Dinner with friends? Surprise them with Fig and Bacon Rolls a sizzling appetiser!
Simple and quick to prepare, these rolls are tasty and crispy, a skilful mix of sweetness and savouriness.
Yes, because the delicate taste of fresh figs baked in the oven 'degreases the palate' from the full-bodied bacon, making for a winning combination.
How about trying them already tonight? The ingredients you will need are these:
8 slices of bacon
8 Peasant-style figs
sage leaves
smoked provola cheese (to taste)
Method:
Lay the slices of bacon on a cutting board and lay a piece of fig and some sage on each end; roll up tightly.
Place the rolls obtained on a baking tray lined with baking paper, arranging them well apart.
Bake in a static oven at 180° for about 25 minutes, until the bacon is golden brown.
Once ready, take out of the oven and leave to cool.
If desired, add a few cubes of smoked provola cheese inside for a 'stringy' version!
The extra touch: serve with a light yoghurt mayonnaise or a cream cheese sauce made with robiola, chives and lemon zest.
