Grapes and Harvest
Britto is made with Arvino, Greco Nero, Magliocco Canino and Nerello Cappuccio grapes, harvested at an altitude of 450-500 metres. The grapes are harvested in mid-October and after careful manual selection, they are softly pressed and left to ferment in horizontal macerators at a controlled temperature for 15 -20 days. The maceration includes both pumping over and punching down for an accurate extraction of the noble components of the grape. Brief refinement on the lees with the malolactic fermentation, to then stop 40% of the wine for 6 months in French barriques and the remainder in steel tanks for 29 months. After bottling, it ages for another 6 months in the bottle.
